ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday submitted more evidence r
egarding the Panama Leaks
case in the Su
preme Court.
According to media reports, the recently submitted documents contain evidence including letters and emails exchanged in 2012 between Mossack Fonseca and Minerva Services r
egarding beneficial owners.
An interview of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with the media has also been included in the documents. Moreover, the evidence also consists of a letter from the director of British Virgin Islands Financial Investigation Agency to Mossack Fonseca’s money laundering reporting officer.
The Su
preme Court of Pakistan is expected to hear the Panama Leaks
case on January 4.
Meanwhile, the prime minister and his children have changed their legal team. The PM will be represented by Makhdoom Ali Khan and Salm
an Akram Raja Hussain while his children Hasan and Maryam Nawaz will be represented by Shahid Hamid.
Previously, the hearing of the
case had been
adjourned till the first week of January by the Su
preme Court. The decision was taken after the court conducted the hearing of the
case on December 9. R
egarding the decision to
adjourn the hearing, the then chief justice, Anwar Zaheer Jamali, said he would not sit on any bench after the full court reference. Justice (retd) Jamali added, “This hearing should not be considered part heard. The Panama Leaks
case will be heard by a new bench.”
According to sources, the
case would now heard by a larger bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and also includes Justices Ijaz Afzal Khan, Gulzar Ahmad, Azmat Saeed and Ijaz-ul-Ahsan. Earlier, Justice Amir Hani Muslim had recused himself from the
case citing personal reasons.
